Monrovia – Dutch airline Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij (KLM) has confirmed that it will start operating its flights to Freetown, Sierra Leone and Monrovia in Liberia at the start of the new 2017 summer schedule.
According to the company, the new operation would serve to further expand their African network, adding that with the two new additional destinations, they would be serving thirteen destinations in the continent in 2017.
“With the addition of Freetown and Monrovia, KLM will be serving thirteen destinations in Africa in 2017.
In this way, we will strengthen our position in Africa considerably and offer our passengers an even greater choice,” KLM President & CEO Pieter Elbers.
The KLM flight operation to Freetown and Monrovia would be Airbus 330-200s, which can seat 267 passengers. Flight KL0511 will departs on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 14.35 from Amsterdam and arrives in Freetown at 19.30, local time.
After a short layover, it will continue on at 20.40 to Monrovia and arrives at 21.55, local time. The return flight will departs from Monrovia at 23.20, local time, and arrives in Amsterdam at 8.10, local time.
The Royal Dutch Airlines plans to expand its African network and will compete with Brussels Airlines, who are considered to be the specialised and dominant European flights in the continent and the Belgium based airline is already flying more in Monrovia and Freetown from home Zaventem.
The new schedule will see KLM flies in Windhoek, Luanda, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Entebbe, Kigali, Lagos, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro, and Dar es Salaam, Accra, Freetown and Monrovia.
