District 16 Coach Jasper Kun Declares Squad ‘Ready’ For District League Showdown

Speaking to FrontPage Africa, Coach Kun assured fans that the players who reported to camp are committed and determined for success.

“We are on course and things are fine,” Kun stated. “We called 28 players, some didn’t show up but we’re working with the committed ones, and I’m okay with that. We are in full control of the team, and as we enter the league, we know we’ll do better.”

Kun revealed his roster is a strategic mix of seasoned veterans and promising young talent, a combination he believes will drive District 16 deep into the tournament.

“Our experienced players will guide the young ones,” he explained. “With the cooperation from the team, the technical staff, and the strong support of our lawmaker, the district should expect much. We’re hoping to win the cup for District 16.”

Blapoh’s Absence Not a Setback

Midfielder Marvin Blapoh, a well-known player from the district, declined an invitation to join the squad. However, Coach Kun indicated it poses no issue for the team.

“It’s not a setback,” Kun said. “We invited him because he’s from the district, but he chose not to play. That’s his decision, and we respect it.”

Eyes on Redemption After Early Exit

District 16 exited last year’s tournament in the group stage, a result that disappointed Representative Dixon Seboe and the fan base.

Kun is however confident this year will be different and he will put smiles on the faces of the fans.

“I feel very proud. It’s good to be back. We came back to serve,” he affirmed. “I’m confident in my team. With the right mindset, we can go all the way to the final.”

Under Kun’s leadership, District 16 has maintained an unbeaten record in series of friendly matches, a streak the team aims to extend into the tournament.

Tournament Kicks Off July 18

Organized by the Liberia Football Association, the Montserrado County District League officially begins on Thursday, July 18. District 16 will open their campaign on Saturday, July 20, facing District 13 at the Tusa Field in Gardnersville. All eyes will be on District 16 as they seek to make a strong statement this season.
