Abidjan – TRANSCO CLSG is making a strong push to consolidate electricity amongst four West African nations – Cote d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea by 2018. Heads of State of the Economic Community of West African States met a decade ago and agreed to develop a regional electricity market. The plan is making inroads, according to Etienne Bailly, project director at Transco CLSG. “What we are anticipating is that by June of this year we will have the contractors on board and by 2018 we will commission the line.”

Monrovia – Barrack Young Controllers II (BYC II) beat Kawkab Athletic Club of Marrakech 2-0 on Sunday in a second leg first round 2016 CAF Confederation Cup match but lost 3-2 on aggregate. BYC needed a 4-0 win to book a second round tie with Mouloudia Club d’Oran of Algeria in the second round or win by a three goal margin to take the match to post match penalties.

Monrovia – The Chairman of the National Muslim Council of Liberia, Alhaji Abubakar Omaru Kamara says Muslims in Liberia will support Vice President Joseph N. Boakai in the 2017 Presidential elections because of his stance on religious tolerance and peace, advocacy for social justice and his role as a unifier in the country. Chairman Kamara said the Vice President is a friend of the Muslims and a friend in need is a friend indeed.
