Monrovia – The Liberty Party has been cited for conference on an action of debt by a local business firm, TAS Group of Companies.

The company said the party has refused to settle its arrears of over US$50,000.
According to the complaint, the political party did enter a three-month contractual agreement with the Liberian owned firm for billboards and other advertisement purposes with the objective of increasing the visibility of LP during the election campaign period.
According to the contract, the complaint indicated that there were to be payment in three installments, beginning with the first 50% down payment upon signing the contract.
The second payment of 30% was scheduled for September 1, 2017 and the remainder 20% on October 1, 2017.
The agreement was signed on July 31, 2017 at the Liberty Party (LP) headquarters in Congo Town in the presence of several high-ranking party stalwarts including LP’s Chairman Benjamin Sanvee who signed on behalf of LP.
According to the complaint, LP only disbursed US$8,000 out of the US$58,500 and has subsequently failed to settle the balance.
The Vice Chairman of Political Affairs Darius Dillon told FPA that he couldn’t deny nor confirm the allegation by the company but said the party is working with its legal section to settle the matter.
Liberty Party’s lawyer, Cllr. James Innis, acknowledged the notice of assignment for the conference.
However, he said the citation was directly referred to Cllr. Charles Brumskine – the party’s political leader – but he’s currently out of the country.
Cllr. Innis said the party’s political leader has been informed of the court’s action and has called on the court to postpone the conference to enable him be present in person as he would be in the country by mid next week.
