The ballots arrived at 7:45 PM Saturday on an Egyptian aircraft.

The ballot papers, according to Mr. Henry Flomo, Director of Communications at the National Elections Commission (NEC) are only for the presidential candidates while that of the representatives candidates are expected to arrive the 28th of this month.

They were offloaded under the huge security presence of the Liberia National Police and loaded onto trucks which where escorted by the police to the National Elections Commission headquarters on 9th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia.

The ballot papers, according to NEC chairman Cllr. Jerome Korkoya are in the tone of three million copies.

“I feel great that we are on course and this is for the presidential race and the representative will arrive by the 28, but we will start distribution of the presidential before the 28th.

These boxes will be under security protection until October 10,” Cllr. Korkoya said.

Liberia is counting less than 20 days to its first election that would see a democratic transfer of political power from one government to another in over 30 years.

Twenty candidates are contesting the presidential race while 980 candidates are running for the 73 seats at the House of Representatives.
