Play for Peace Tourney Enters Semi-Final

Monrovia – Four out of the eight quarter-finalists that battled in the Play for Peace (PFP) Youth Academy league have reached the semifinal of the youth league after their respective wins over the weekend.

The four teams are KUSA Football Academy, JU United Football Academy, Bethlehem Football Academy, and Monrovia Football Academy.

Kingston United Sports Association (KUSA) Football Academy advanced to the league semifinal  after coming from a 1-0 down to defeat Jr. Marshall 2-1 in Saturday’s opening game at the Barnesville Estate Sports pitch.

Striker Sensee Sherman got the match opening goal for Jr. Marshal in the 32nd minute through a spectacular placement from the 18th yard box and they maintained their lead up to the 59th minute when striker Jeremiah Sandy equalized for KUSA through a powerful strike.

Junior Marshall went down in the 68th minute after striker Kelvin Davies scored KUSA’s second goal through a forceful shot from the edge of the penalty box.

The second goal scorer of KUSA Kelvin Davies attributed his side victory over their opponents to their seriousness and target to reach the tournament’s final and capture the championship.

Davies called on his teammates to remain focused as they continue their preparation for the semifinal.

Jr. Marshal lone goal scorer Sensee Sherman regretted his side exist from the league but added that there is a winner or loser in every tournament quarterfinal but added that KUSA deserved the victory. 

Bethlehem Football Academy qualified for the league semifinal in the day’s second game after a 1-0 victory over Hope Football Academy.

In Sunday’s quarterfinal battles, Monrovia Football Academy reached the league semifinal after beating Wilson Corner 3-2 in the first game while JU United made it to the semifinal after a narrow   1-0 win over Massa Football Academy in Sunday’s last battle.
