Alexander Cummings of Alternative National Congress Welcomed in Lofa County

Lofa County – Alexander B. Cummings, the Political Leader of the Alternative National Congress was received by a massive parade in Lofa last Friday.

The parade demonstrated Mr. Cummings popularity in the county, which has grown out of grass roots efforts within Lofa and the many philanthropic projects Mr. Cummings has done in the area.

The parade was followed by a week-end long engagement in Foya which included a meeting with a farmer’s union, a mass citizens meeting, and an intellectual forum at Foya City hall. Cummings also plans to hold engagements in the heavy populated Voinjama this week.

The candidate reached District #1 in Lofa just before the February 28th by-election which will fill the vacancy left behind by the death of Eugene Fallah Kpakar. Alternative National Congress’s James T.O. Peter is running for the open seat.

During the city hall forum held in Foya, attendees complained that they felt largely ignored by the incumbent government.

It can be noted that the Unity Party government’s infrastructural program has done more roads in Nimba and Bong Counties, than Lofa-where the Vice President comes from.

Cummings promised the people of Foya that his administration will be inclusive in all aspects, including transportation and infrastructure development, saying, “The people of Lofa can trust that I will continue to support them when I am president as I have in the past as a private citizen.”

Cummings is credited with building the majority of hand pumps in Foya.

The former Coca-Cola executive has personally supported projects in Lofa county for many years, well before the formation of the Cummings Africa Foundation, which he created in 2015 with his wife Teresa and children Ayo and Boikai.

The foundation has invested nearly $1M USD into health, education, entrepreneurship, the arts, women and youth empowerment and infrastructure projects in Liberia.

Mr. Cummings announced his candidacy for the Presidency of Liberia early last year, and following his Alternative Day Rally, he has steadily climbed his way to a becoming a forerunner in the 2017 race for president.

His supporters believe that his wide and varied private and philanthropic sector experience, his success in consistently delivering results by building strong teams and holding them accountable, and his unblemished record of integrity makes him the most prepared candidate for the office of President.

Mr. Cummings is deeply committed to eradicating corruption in Liberia, building Liberia’s capacity, and ensuring the prosperous future of the people and nation of Liberia.
