MONROVIA – A renowned Nigerian Prelate, Reverend Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi, has ended her four days visit here in Liberia as a guest of Vice President Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor, fulfilling her commitment to three institutions that are catering to people with disabilities in Liberia.
The Antoinette Tubman Cheshire Home in Sinkor, the Mission of Hope in Jacob Town in Paynesville, and the Group of ‘77 on Newport Street, received a sum of seventy thousand United States dollars, with each carrying twenty-five thousand United States dollars.
Mother Ajayi, who made the pledge during her visit to Liberia back in November 2018, also presented a two 29 sitter- bus each to the Mission of Hope in Jacob Town in Paynesville and the Group of ’77 in addition to a mini-bus to the Antoinette Tubman Cheshire Home in Sinkor.
The humanitarian Cleric made an additional contribution of twenty-thousand US-dollars each to other intuitions including Liberia Cultural Ambassador Julie Endee’s Crusaders for Peace of and the Restoration Baptist Church of Pastor Joseph G. Johnson, III.
The donation to the three institutions according to a release from the office of the Vice President of Liberia was facilitated by Liberia’s Vice President, Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor.
Mother Ajayi, Founder & CEO of Esther Ajayi Foundation, recalled her first interaction with VP Howard-Taylor, which took place in Ghana at the launch of her Foundation, serenading the Liberian Vice President as a woman of humility.
She revealed that it was based on the humility exhibited by VP Howard-Taylor during their interactions that she was moved to the conviction that a visit to Liberia would be a rewarding one, not a waste of time.
The notable Cleric promised to do all within her powers and influence to impact the leadership and activities of the Liberian first female Vice President.
The turning over ceremony of the cash and vehicles was held at Capitol Building on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 and was graced by House Speaker Bhofal Chambers, President Pro-Tempore Albert T. Chie and other members of the Legislature.
Speaker Chambers and Pro-tempore Chie, who presented the keys of the vehicles and cash to the institutions, thanked the Reverend Mother for the donation, describing it as a big relief to the disabled community.
They also lauded Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor for always supporting the livelihood of persons with disabilities in the country, especially this timely intervention which led to the donation by Mother Ajayi.
Speaking earlier, VP Howard-Taylor thanked Mother Ajayi for identifying with people with disabilities. She urged Liberians to take note of the humanity shown by the Woman of God and be inspired to make peace with, and show love for, one another.
She emphasized that reconciliation must begin within and then work its way to everyone else, lamenting that Liberia has been enthralled in noisy political atmosphere, a situation that Liberians can do without as it only goes to stalling the development agenda of the nation.
For their part, heads of the Antoinette Tubman Cheshire Home, the Mission of Hope and the Group of ‘77 lauded Reverend Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi and Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor for the donation and described it as a historic milestone in the lives of persons with disabilities in the country. They promised to make maximum use of the vehicles and cash in fostering activities of their respective institutions.
Meanwhile, the people of Todee District, Montserrado County, have officially turned over one hundred acres of land to Mother Ajayi to be used for farming purpose for the promoting agriculture in the country.
Presenting the Tribal Certificate to the land Wednesday, January 17, 2019, in the District, Montserrado County Superintendent Florence Brandy said the people of Todee are excited by this meaningful move by Mother Ajayi.
She added that her office will ensure that an additional fifty acres of land will be added making it a total of 150-thousand acres.
Receiving the Certificate, Mother Ajayi revealed her intention to engage in rice and pepper production with the aim of empowering the locals in the District.
