Liberia Agricultural Company Expands School Transport with New Buses

Compound Three, Grand Bassa County – The Liberia Agricultural Company (LAC) has commissioned two new school buses and a heavy-duty TATA truck as part of efforts to improve education and operational services across its plantation.

The vehicles were commissioned over the weekend by LAC General Manager Naveen Madan on behalf of the company’s board, shareholders and management, ahead of the 2026–2027 academic and operational year.

LAC operates 11 schools serving about 7,750 students, with girls accounting for approximately 45% of total enrolment.

The company provides free access to education for employees’ dependants and has also admitted about 348 students from 46 surrounding communities. It additionally runs an adult education and literacy programme.

The new buses are expected to improve transportation for students who travel across the plantation to attend school.

LAC management says the additional vehicles will reduce students’ walking time, help them arrive home earlier and potentially give them more time for studying.

The company also expects the expanded school transport fleet to provide greater flexibility and reduce vehicle downtime, helping to ensure that school transportation remains reliable.

At the commissioning ceremony, General Manager Naveen Madan urged drivers to take proper care of the company’s vehicles and warned students against damaging or destroying bus seats and other property.

He called on both drivers and students to use the vehicles responsibly and strictly for their intended purposes.

Mr Madan also said the latest investment was part of a broader effort to improve services across the plantation, assuring staff and communities that further improvements were expected.

Alongside the two school buses, LAC commissioned a new heavy-duty TATA truck for rubber collection, extraction and other logistical operations.

The company says the investment in both education and plantation logistics is intended to strengthen its operations while improving services for employees, students and surrounding communities.
