MONROVIA — The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has formally invited Liberian legal practitioner Cllr. Kunkunyon Wleh Teh to participate in a high-level governance meeting scheduled for September in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia a development that could further elevate Liberia’s representation in continental football administration.

According to an official invitation letter dated August 25, 2026, CAF has summoned members of its Governance Committee to an in-person session at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa from September 15 to 19, 2026.
The correspondence, signed by CAF Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu, states that the meeting is being convened to allow the Governance Committee to deliberate on critical governance matters within its statutory mandate and formulate recommendations for the CAF Executive Committee.
Cllr. Teh is slated to contribute to the proceedings as part of his ongoing engagement with CAF’s governance framework.
The invitation comes at a pivotal time when institutional accountability, administrative compliance, and structural integrity have taken center stage across African football.
Governance Agenda
CAF’s letter clarifies that the Addis Ababa gathering is a statutory session of the continental body’s Governance Committee rather than a ceremonial event.
The committee’s operations are anchored in Article 44 of the CAF Statutes, which delineates its mandate and oversight responsibilities. According to CAF, committee members will evaluate pressingly relevant governance issues and draft policy recommendations aimed at guiding the Executive Committee’s broader administrative decisions.
The continental body requested that all invited members confirm their availability promptly to facilitate travel and logisitical arrangements.
Cllr. Teh’s involvement positions him among a select group of legal minds and sports administrators shaping the regulatory direction of the African game.
Relevance to Liberian Football
The invitation arrives amidst heightened scrutiny of local football administration, particularly following recent controversies involving the Liberia Football Association (LFA) and the nation’s non-participation in continental club tournaments.
An LFA investigative panel was recently constituted to examine the circumstances surrounding Liberia’s failure to feature in the 2026/27 CAF Men’s Interclub Competitions—a lapse that sparked public outcry and raised concerns over administrative efficiency, internal communication, and regulatory compliance within the domestic governing body.
In light of these local challenges, Liberia’s involvement in continental governance forums carries added weight. While CAF’s invitation letter does not tie the Addis Ababa meeting to any specific ongoing investigation or disciplinary action involving the LFA, Cllr. Teh’s attendance highlights the importance of aligning local administrative systems with broader continental standards.
