Paris — Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France, H.E. Dr. Teeko Tozay Yorlay, Sr., has called on Liberians in Europe to embrace unity, national renewal, and active engagement as the country prepares to usher in the New Year 2026.
In a Christmas and New Year message addressed to Liberians across his countries of accreditation—France, Spain, Monaco, Greece, Cyprus, Switzerland, and Portugal—Ambassador Yorlay extended warm festive greetings and reflected on the enduring values of Christmas as symbols of hope, resilience, and triumph over adversity.
“Christmas reminds us of hope born in humility, llof light overcoming darkness, and of love triumphing over fear,” Ambassador Yorlay said, noting that these values mirror Liberia’s own history of faith, sacrifice, and determination.
Commending the Diaspora’s Role
Reflecting on the year 2025, which he described as one of both challenges and progress, Ambassador Yorlay praised Liberians in the diaspora for remaining steadfast representatives of their homeland.
“You have continued to stand tall as ambassadors of goodwill, hard work, and integrity,” he said, applauding their contributions to host countries while maintaining strong emotional and cultural ties to Liberia.
He emphasized that wherever Liberians reside, they carry with them the dignity and indomitable spirit of the nation.
Call for Unity and National Renewal
Looking ahead to 2026, the ambassador urged Liberians abroad to renew their commitment to unity, dialogue, and collective responsibility toward national development.
“Liberia stands at a critical moment in its journey—one that calls for the contributions of all her sons and daughters, regardless of where we reside,” he said.
Ambassador Yorlay encouraged Liberians in the diaspora to invest in ideas and initiatives that uplift communities at home, serve as bridges between Liberia and their host nations, and reject division in favor of constructive engagement.
Commitment to Service
Speaking on behalf of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., the Government and People of Liberia, and the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia, Ambassador Yorlay expressed gratitude to the diaspora for their cooperation and continued confidence in the Liberian diplomatic mission.
He reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to serving Liberians abroad with integrity, dedication, and openness.
Season’s Greetings
The ambassador concluded with prayers for peace, renewed strength, and abundant opportunities in the New Year, while extending Christmas and New Year wishes to President Boakai, Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Foreign Minister Sarah B. Nyanti, and Liberians at home and abroad.
“May God continue to bless and guide Liberia and all her people,” Ambassador Yorlay said.
The message underscores the government’s broader effort to strengthen ties with the Liberian diaspora as a vital partner in national unity and development.
