Liberia: Jallah Jacobs Humanitarian Foundation Dedicates Modern Bridge In Bassa Town Community

Bassa Town, Paynesville – Sunday, October 19, 2025: The Jallah Jacobs Humanitarian Foundation (JAHUFUND) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development and social transformation with the official dedication of a newly constructed modern bridge in the Bassa Town Community, Block C, Paynesville City, outside Monrovia.

“This bridge is a statement of hope and a testament to compassion in action,” says Chied Executive Officer (CEO) Jallah Jacob.

The colorful dedication ceremony, held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, drew hundreds of residents, community leaders, local officials, youth, and guests from across Montserrado County. The event featured cultural performances, thanksgiving prayers, and heartfelt testimonies from residents who described the project as “a dream come true” and “a bridge of hope.”

A Bridge of Hope and Unity

Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Jacobs described the occasion as “a defining moment in our shared journey toward community development, progress, dignity, fulfillment, and human upliftment.”

“The dedication of this bridge here in the Bassa Town Community is far more than an act of infrastructure; it is a statement of hope and a testament to what compassion and collective purpose can achieve when humanity leads the way,” Mr. Jacobs said to resounding applause.

He explained that the initiative was inspired by the community’s persistent appeals for help, noting that residents had long endured difficulty crossing the area, especially during the rainy season when roads became impassable.

“When the Jallah Jacobs Humanitarian Foundation first learned of the challenges this community faced especially during the rainy season when movement became almost impossible we knew we had to act,” Mr. Jacobs said. “We understood that this bridge would not only connect roads but also connect lives, families, and opportunities.”

Leadership Through Service

Mr. Jacobs emphasized that true development begins with empathy and that leadership without service is incomplete. He reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to people-centered development, anchored in compassion, humility, and service to humanity

“Our mission is grounded in the conviction that true leadership is service to humanity, and that a fulfilled life is one that leaves behind footprints of impact,” he noted. “This philosophy echoes Aristotle’s words: ‘The essence of life is to serve others and do well.’”

The Foundation’s CEO extended appreciation to the Bassa Town community leadership particularly Chairman George Pennoh for collaborating closely throughout the project’s implementation.

“To all the men, women, and youth who worked tirelessly alongside our team to make this dream a reality, you are the true strength behind this project,” Mr. Jacobs said.

“To the residents of Bassa Town, I say this: this bridge now belongs to you. Protect it, preserve it, and use it to build the future you deserve.”

Community Leaders Laud Foundation’s Impact

In remarks, Chairman George Pennoh of the Bassa Town Community praised Mr.  Jacobs and the Foundation for their compassion and commitment to improving lives through tangible development.

“For too long, our people suffered every rainy season. Children were carried on backs, goods were destroyed by floodwaters, and access to healthcare was nearly impossible,” Chairman Pennoh said emotionally. “Today, that story has changed thanks to the Jallah Jacobs Humanitarian Foundation.”

Aligning with National Development Priorities

Mr. Jacobs reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to driving people-centered development in line with Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, which prioritizes Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism.

“Each of these pillars represents a promise of transformation, and today’s dedication is a practical step toward that vision,” he added.

The dedication ceremony was graced by local government officials, community elders, youth leaders, women’s groups, and representatives of partner organizations. Many praised the Foundation for its consistent humanitarian interventions across sectors such as education, health, women’s empowerment, and infrastructure development.

Residents Celebrate New Chapter

Residents expressed overwhelming gratitude for the bridge, describing it as a turning point in their daily lives.

“Before, we used to risk our lives crossing the swamp just to go to school or market,” said one community member. “Now, we can walk safely and proudly. This bridge has truly united our community.”

As the ceremony concluded, joy filled the air as residents sang, danced and took photographs while crossing the new bridge for the first time.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we are reminded that progress is most meaningful when it uplifts others,” Mr. Jacobs said in his closing remarks. “The JMJ Humanitarian Foundation will continue to champion initiatives that unite communities, foster inclusion, and build a legacy that future generations will not only inherit but also emulate.”

He ended with a message of gratitude and optimism:

“May God bless us all. Thank you.”
