Monrovia – The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has announced October 18, 2025 as the official date for the groundbreaking of its new national headquarters, nearly two months after its previous headquarters was demolished by court order on August 23.

Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, Chairman of the CDC Headquarters Construction Committee, made the disclosure on Monday during a press conference held at the Boulevard Palace Hotel in Monrovia.
According to Cllr. Koffa, the new headquarters will be constructed at a site located opposite the Greater Refuge Temple Church. He revealed that the groundbreaking ceremony will be led by former President George Manneh Weah, the party’s Standard Bearer.
“We are here to announce today that on October 18, the Standard Bearer of our party, former President Weah, will officially break ground at our new party location,” Cllr. Koffa stated. “We are calling on all of our partisans to be present and join our Standard Bearer in inaugurating our new headquarters project.”
As part of the weekend activities, a thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday, October 19 at the Forky Klon Jlaleh Family Christian Fellowship Church, a church founded by former President Weah to express gratitude for the party’s resilience.
“CDC, a party with all of our struggles, continues to survive in the midst of adversity,” Cllr. Koffa remarked. “Destruction often gives rise to new beginnings. This project is not just about rebuilding a structure, but about reaffirming our commitment to the ideals that founded our,’’ he said.

Cllr. Koffa further expressed appreciation to those contributing toward the project, revealing that support has come from a diverse group of Liberians—including members of the ruling Unity Party and opposition parties.
He disclosed the following breakdown of donors: 52% are CDC Partisans, 18% are from the ruling Unity Party (UP), 10% are independents, 10% belongs to other opposition parties, 10% preferred to remain anonymous
“This is a testament to the shared spirit of national unity and cooperation beyond party lines,” he stated.
With a touch of humor, Cllr. Koffa added: “If you want to know the names of our Unity Party contributors, meet me in Room 1026.”
The announcement signals a new chapter for the CDC as it rebuilds both physically and symbolically in the wake of recent setbacks.
