Grand Cape Mount County – The inaugural football and kickball tournament held in honor of the newly elected Youth Coordinator of Tewor District concluded over the weekend, with Sambolah Clan emerging champions in kickball and Matambobalor Clan clinching the football title

The tournament, hosted in Tiene Town, brought together ten clans from across the district: Jaliebah, Paasewe, Ktomah, Kiaw, Sambolah, Meimassa, Gataweh, Fahnbulleh, Dassen, and Matambobalor.
In the kickball final, Sambolah Clan secured a dominant 4–0 victory over Kiawu Clan, while Matambobalor Clan edged Dassen Clan 1–0 in a tightly contested football match.
Organized as a reconciliation initiative, the tournament aimed to foster unity among the youth following the recent elections for district youth leadership. The newly elected officials are, D. Victor Jaliebah – Youth Coordinator, Abraham B. Konneh – Program Coordinator,Sakie Sambolah – Finance Coordinator,Hawa K. Kamara – Gender Coordinator,Badiyatu Sheriff – Treasurer
Youth Coordinator Victor Jaliebah extended appreciation to the youth and citizens of the district for entrusting him with the role. He promised to promote youth development initiatives that would enhance the skills and potential of young people in the district.
“I’m grateful to my fellow youth for electing me from among the other two candidates,” Jaliebah said. “I promise to always listen to their concerns and work together with my team to ensure meaningful change and development in Tewor District.”
Jaliebah emphasized the importance of unity among the newly elected officials and the youth of the district. He said collective ideas and collaboration would be vital in achieving the goals set for the next four years.
“I know why I was chosen, and I will make sure we work together as leaders and youth alike to compare and contrast ideas and find solutions that benefit all of us,” he added.
The tournament not only celebrated the democratic process but also served as a platform to strengthen community bonds and encourage active participation in youth leadership and development.
