According to police reports, Koiyan allegedly attacked Karto on March 27, 2025, in Zeor’s Town Community, Margibi County, as she was heading to purchase palm wine.
Investigators say Koiyan insisted on following Karto because she had his palm wine container and refused to return it.
During their journey into the bush, Koiyan reportedly assaulted Karto with multiple punches until she collapsed. Police allege that after she fell to the ground, Koiyan tied her hands behind her back with her lapper and fled the scene.
Market women who heard Karto’s cries for help alerted local residents, who discovered her unconscious body lying in a pool of blood. Despite search efforts, Koiyan was not immediately found. He was later apprehended in Louisiana Township, Montserrado County, following a police tip-off.
During police interrogation, Koiyan reportedly admitted to killing Karto, claiming he was provoked by his fiancée.
