The event marks the beginning of a year-long celebration to promote cultural diversity, solidarity, peace, and cooperation within the Francophonie community.
The initiative underscores the shared commitment of 93-member states of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) to celebrate French language and cultural richness, while fostering global unity and mutual respect.
Côte d’Ivoire’s Ambassador, Madam Georgette A. Mibrah, addressed the gathering, explaining that the Francophonie encompasses all individuals, institutions, and countries that use French as a primary or secondary language.
She highlighted that in 2024, 93 states and governments, representing 343 million people, are part of the Francophonie community, working to advance peace, democracy, education, and sustainable development.
“We acknowledge the importance of fostering deeper connections among the 93 member states of the OIF and embracing our cultural diversity,” Mibrah said.
The “Printemps de la Francophonie” celebrations will run until March 22, 2025, featuring various events, including a football tournament (March 15), an exhibition (March 17), school visits (March 18), a debate evening (March 19), cultural presentations (March 20), charity events, and film screenings (March 21), with a gastronomic fair to conclude the festivities on March 22, 2025.
Ambassador Mibrah emphasized that the activities are designed to engage the people of Liberia, inviting them to learn about the Francophonie community and address critical issues for the future of young people, inspired by the 19th Francophonie Summit, held in October 2024 in France.
