Monrovia – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has selected twenty-three organizations to participate in a co-creation workshop to develop concept papers for a new program to increase access to quality education for adolescent girls in Liberia.
The new program will be part of the Let Girls Learn initiative of the United States Government, designed to ensure adolescent girls get the education they deserve.
Building on USAID’s initial Let Girls Learn funding and education programs, the initiative elevates existing programs, particularly in areas of conflict and crisis, leverages public-private partnerships, and challenges organizations and governments to commit resources to lift up adolescent girls worldwide.
In July 2016, USAID invited the public to submit expressions of interest to participate in designing a program under its Let Girls Learn Activity to achieve these goals.
From the 75 expressions of interest that were received, twenty-three organizations were competitively selected by USAID to participate in the workshop based on the merits of their expressions of interest.
The concept papers developed by workshop participants will ultimately lead to the development and award of a USAID-funded program to promote adolescent girls’ education utilizing approaches that produce innovative and sustainable outcomes.
The organizations selected to participate in the workshop, which will be held from September 21-September 23 in Monrovia at the Mamba Point Hotel, are listed below.
These organizations have been encouraged to reach out to other organizations, both locally and abroad, to help broaden participation and facilitate the inclusion of additional innovative ideas.
Participating Organizations include-African Development Corps, American Institutes for Research, AmeriCares, BRAC Liberia, Cambridge Education and LINK Community Development, Chemonics, Education Development Center, Institute of International Education, International Business Initiatives (IBI), International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX), Mano River Women’s Peace Network, Mercy Corps, More Than Me, Premise Data, Save the Children, School-to-School International, Shelter for Life International, The Kaizen Company, UNICEF, Winrock International, World Education, World Hope International and World Reader.
