Monrovia – Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has promised to within 48 hours, settle ongoing disputes among marketers and the leadership of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA).

Madam Taylor promised to work in collaboration with the Ministers of Justice and State for Presidential Affairs in order to resolve the impasse.
She made the commitment when she on Monday, August 27, received a petition from aggrieved marketers, who accused their president, Madam Alice Yeebahn, of massive corruption.
The Vice President has promised to intervene because her Office supervises the LMA.
In their plea to the VeeP, the aggrieved marketers want their embattled president and other officials be made to account for over 25,235,000 Liberian dollars that was allegedly misused by their leadership. They further charged that as a result of this alleged mismanagement, they are left to face constrains of lack of basic amenities at various market stalls.
Excerpts of the aggrieved marketers’ petition read: “After careful investigation Honorable Vice President, we have been informed that the Liberian Marketing Association consists of nine board members; but Madam Alice in her devilish, satanic and selfish interest, decided to consciously work with only three of the board members leaving the balance six executives in the state of dilemma.
“In view of the above we are calling for the immediate and unconditional removal of Madam Alice Yeebahn and for that she be subsequently turned over to the General Auditing Commission (GAC) for a comprehensive audit in other to stop the nature of impunity.”
When contacted, Madam Yeebahn denied the allegations made against her by her colleagues. She promised to work with the Office of the Vice President and others in resolving the impasse.
“Who am I? I am just a market woman who will not disrespect the Offices of the President and the Vice President. All the allegations made against me are false and misleading,” she stated.
