USA – The University of Liberia Alumni Association in the Americas (ULIBAAA) is expected to launch its official Scholarship Fund Drive on April 28, 2018 in Philadelphia, USA.
According to the association’s President, Melvin D. Howard, the official launch of the scholarship fund drive will bring together alumnus of the University of Liberia residing in the United States.
The event will be held in the United States.
Howard said the two days event would be held on April 27, with the arrival of invited guests and alumnus.
The ULIBAAA President also said preparation leading to the activities of the official launch of the fund drive will continue Saturday, April 28 with a soccer match between the Mighty ULIBAAA and Pennsylvania Old Timers.
Howard noted that the program would also generate funds to help sponsor-deserving students of the University of Liberia, detailing that the association has planned to provide scholarship annually for students who will meet the criteria set by the scholarship committee.
“If only they can meet the requirement that will be set by the vetting committee headed by Thomas Doe Nah, once Nah certifies the list and summits, we will work with administration to see how the money can be transferred for the students’ fees and tuition,” he said.
ULIBAA President averred that it is the obligation of alumni of the University of Liberia to identify and give back to their Alma Mata especially in the wake of the economic challenges confronting the institution.
He said the ULIBAAA would work in collaboration with the Alumni Association of the University of Liberia; (AAUL) headed by James S. Davis II to fully implement those projects earmarked.
Mr. Howard said his leadership has brought great achievement to the association since his ascendency to the association presidency in 2016, with US$1,700 in the association coffer, with the membership from 65 to 2,000 alumni.
At the same time, Howard vowed to continue his campaign in the U. S to encourage alumni of the UL form part of the ULIBAAA.
