The Paynesville based club proved their supremacy over LISCR FC this season when they completed the double over the defending champion on Wednesday April 3, 2024 at the Tusa Field when they secure all three points in a tight encounter that ended 1-0 to the away side.
With focus and determination couple with strong motivation from their fans and technicians, the experienced Paynesville City based team fought very hard with team spirit to win the league.
Watanga from the start of the league did not really look as title container but eventually capitalized from the mistakes of other teams like Mighty Barrolle, Heaven Eleven, Paynesville Fc and LISCR FC to win the league.
Prior to their championship, they were arguably the best team with over four players selected from their squad for the senior national Team to include, Skipper; Farsedu Logan, Central defender Natus Swen, versatile Chauncy Freeman,
Goalkeeper, Teddy Kollie and right back, Philip Tarnue respectively .
Earlier this year, young and potential players of Watanga fc namely; Goal machine Emmanuel Sieh and Emmanuel Folley performed very well to see Liberia under 20 team captured the just ended youth peace tournament over Sierra Leone with Emmanuel Sieh wining the golden booth award as the highest goal scorer.
Currently, Striker Sieh is one of the top scorers of the National league with seventeen goals.
Emmanuel Sieh right footed strike was enough to give Watanga the championship inside the closing stages of the game over defending Champions, LISCR FC at home.
Sieh’s terrific goal keeps spectators on their heels to the end of the game.
He is now the hero and savior for Watanga as his goal is now the talking point following a penalty missed by skipper Farsedu Logan.
He converted a Prince Kennedy corner kick to get the needed goal and championship for his side.
His goal now brings him to seventeen as the second top scorer of the league next to Clement Zunah of Mighty Barrolle.
As celebrations continue, Watanga is expected to officially be crown Champions at home when they take on Paynesville FC before ending the league away from to Global Pharma FC at the D. Tweh sports pitch the New Kru Town.
Wednesday result increase Watanga FC points to 55 points ten points above LIsCr in second, which means if they lost their next two games and LISCR win their Watanga will still go on and win the league with four points More than any of the teams on the league.
It’s the club second league title in their history and fourth for their coach Copper Sannah who has won the league with three separate clubs.
In the relegation battle between Invincible Eleven and Kallon FC Liberia it ended in a 1-1 draw at the Antoinette Tubman stadium.

On Tuesday Bea Mountain FC dumped NPA Anchors 5-1 at the Tusa Field to move third on the league table.
