Monrovia – The Induction Committee of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) says all is now set for the induction ceremony of the recently elected officials of SWAL.

Members of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) elected new leadership for the next three years on Saturday, December 9 with Varmah Kamara emerged victorious, defeating Trojan Kiazulu to become the new president of SWAL.
According to the inaugural committee of SWAL the 2024 induction ceremony will take place on Friday March 1, 2024 at the Monrovia City Hall beginning at 5pm.
At the ceremony current SWAL vice president and former Truth FM sports reporter Varmah Kamara will be inducted as President of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL), along with FrontPage Africa sports Editor Christopher C Walker as Vice President, Edwin Boy Dolo, Secretary General, Jerome Willie as Assistant Secretary, Naomi Tappia as Financial Secretary, and Yusulf Sherif as Chaplain.
Despite an initial postponement from February 1 to February 23, 2024, the Induction Committee of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) headed by Martina Brooks has revealed that all is now set for this Friday much publicized induction ceremony.
The Induction Committee Chair Martina said Liberia’s Youth and Sports Minister Jeror Cole Bangalu will serve as keynote speaker while other prominent individuals and institutions have been invited to grace the occasion.
Deputy Sports Minister G. Andy Quamie induction officer while several sports stakeholders will be present for the program.
Madam Brooks who is a former Vice President of SWAL added that the ceremony will also include a fund raising rally intended to help fund future projects of the institution.
The program will bring together scores of sports stakeholders, including the Youth and Sports Ministry, The Information Ministry, the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC), the Liberia Football Association, the Liberia Kickball Federation, as well as several high profile officials of government.
Outgoing President of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) Kolubah Zayzay who completed one term will officially turn over the affairs of the Association with a special statement.
The Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) is meanwhile calling on its members to turn out for the ceremony which is expected to begin a new chapter for Sports Journalists in Liberia.
