The Rollers started the match aggressively as Nuch Zor opened the scoring for the home side after just five minutes of play. The Pharmacists of Global Pharma mounted pressure to get the equalizer but were denied by Barrolle keeper Amah Moore, who made some decent saves to keep his team in the lead. James Richardson, Oliver Sekey, and Amdiah Kawah had chances to equalize for the Pharmacists but couldn’t.
Deep in the added time of the first half, Amdiah Kawah made amends for goals he and his teammates missed to get the equalizer for the away side after a delicious assist from James Richardson, ending the first half 1-1.
Back from the break, Amdiah Kawah completed his brace with a cool finish to give Global Pharma FC a 2-1 lead. Barrolle, down at home, came all out but couldn’t break the defense of the Pharmacists, resulting in the Rollers getting punished when James Richardson increased his side’s lead from a counter-attack. Marvin Blapoh later received a straight red card for pulling an attacker of Barrolle in the box, resulting in a penalty for Barrolle that was converted by Nuch Zor. Sylvester Doe put the game to bed with a breakaway play after a Barrolle corner, with Doe firing home the last goal of the match to a deafening roar from the traveling Pharmacists’ faithful, leaving Barrolle stunned.
Global Pharma’s victory kept alive their only hope of silverware this season and ended the Rollers’ dream of a trophy this season. The match had everything needed for a classic cup tie, including end-to-end action and two red cards, one to each team. The result means Global Pharma FC progress to the semifinal on a 5-3 aggregate.
In the other quarter-final match, Paynesville FC overpowered LISCR FC to reach the last four. The boys from Paynesville secured a 2-1 win away from home to seal a 3-2 aggregate win over LISCR FC. Meanwhile, Keatu Smith’s side will face the winner from Invincible Eleven and Junior Professionals FC, while Paynesville FC will take on either Jubilee FC or Discoveries SA after their win over LISCR.
