Liberia: Lone Star delegation Arrives in Johannesburg

MONROVIA – The Liberia national football team (Lone Star) delegation has safely arrived in Johannesburg via the Tambo International Airport at 11:30 local time.

The delegation, headed by LFA Second Vice President Saye-Taayor Adolphus Dolo, was welcomed by Liberia’s Ambassador accredited to South Africa, Amb. Ethel Davis, her team, and Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, G. Andy Quamie departed Monrovia on March 20, 2023 and arrived in South Africa on March 21, 2023.

Captain William Jebor, Marcus Marculey, and Tonia Tisdell joined the delegation during transit in Accra, while Oscar Dorley and Sampson Dweh arrived in Johannesburg minutes after the delegation from Liberia had arrived.

Mark Pabai, Justin Salmon, Nohan Kenneh, and Peter Wilson arrived earlier and were already at the Hilton Hotels & Resorts, where the team is staying.

Allen Njie, Mohammed Kamara, and Mohammad Sangare are expected to arrive on Wednesday.

Coach Keita who took over from Peter Butler has a two-year mandate to qualify Lone Star to the Nations cup and build a strong Local team to qualify for the African Nations Championship which is for local players only.

Liberia will be looking to make it to their third Nations Cup and will be hoping they can get four points from the two games.

Lone Star seats at the bottom of the group with no point following their 2-0 defeat to Morocco and Bafana Bafana also has no point after their 2-1 loss to South Africa who topped the Group with six points from two games.
