Monrovia – Liberia’s international striker, Sam Johnson, has donated several foods, non-food items and cash to several disadvantaged Liberians.

The striker, who is on vacation from Norway on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, visited the Group of 77 and presented begs of rice, clothes and L$24,000 as his way of helping the disabled during the independence celebration of Liberia.
Sam Johnson, who plies his trade in Norway for Vålerenga FC said gesture was his way of identifying with needed during the celebration of Liberia’s 171st Independence. Along with players of his academy, journalists and well-wishers, the Liberian professional made first stop at the headquarters of the Group of 77, where he donated the rice, clothes and cash.
“If I eat during this holiday, I need to give to the needy. I’m here on holidays and I feel there is no better way to identify with you rather than this,” the soft-spoken player noted.
The player said as a Godly woman, his mother has always told him it is better to give than to receive. Receiving the items, the Group of 77 Executive Director, Madam Florence Wayfa-Siafa, thanked the player and wished him well in his professional footballing career. Madam Siaffa said she will convey the gesture of player Johnson to Liberia’s Vice President, Jewel-Howard Taylor, who has oversight responsibility over the Group of 77.
“We are grateful for this gesture and will use it for the purpose intended. Your donation is timely because we just experienced flooding so this will go a long way,” Madam Siafa said.
Besides the Group of 77, Johnson and his delegation made several other stops, including the Benson Street Mosque, parts of Central Monrovia. His final stop was in Vai Town where he made similar donations. He is expected to continue his compassionate adventure today where he is expected to visit the School of the Blind in Brewerville and other parts.
According to the powerful attacker, he is planning to extend his helping hand to other parts of the country when he is on vacation in November of this year.
