Monrovia – Representative Munah Pelham-Youngblood (CDC-District #9, Montserrado County) Thursday assaulted and threatened FrontPageAfrica Legislative reporter Henry Karmo over a news article questioning whether she is still a lawmaker or now a protocol officer.
In the news article, FPA reported that the lawmaker was paying more attention to the job as protocol officer to President George Weah than the duties elected to perform.
The report seems not to have gone down well with the lawmaker who resolved to assault reporter Karmo in open session when several of her colleagues were discussing issues of the citizenship law.
“As if the Montserrado lawmaker had planned the attack, she jumps off her seat by the time I entered the session pointing her finger to my face and knocking head, threatening and warning me never to try it again.
When asked what I did, she said “you wrote nonsense about me”.
“Don’t try it again!” he warned.
Her action drew the attention of some of her colleagues and the Speaker who abruptly held the discussion on the floor and asked her to approach him where they had a brief quiet discussion.
In reaction to Rep. Youngblood’s action, a Capitol Building staff believed to be in early 50’s working in the maintenance department told FPA, “I am surprised my, Munah who we have known to be humble has overgrown in our hands since Weah won this presidency.
She sees herself as one untouchable person who talks to us anyhow.”
