Monrovia – The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has elected Representative Saah Joseph (CDC-District 13 Montserrado County) on white ballot. This means he becomes the ruling party’s candidate for the pending by-election.

According to CDC Chairman Mulbah Morlu, they are doing everything to ensure that they retain the seat. To do that, according to him, is to put forward a candidate who will meet the approval of all partisans and the electorates.
“We will make sure to put out our best. If you are an opposition coming into this election you must be strong to face the strength of CDC because this county is ours. Election records have proven that and we will ensure that we maintain this political presence,” Morlu maintained.
From 2005 to present, all the senators to have been elected to the post have been CDC’s lawmakers.
They include Joyce Musu Freeman, Geraldine-Doe Sheriff and George Weah, whose ascendance to the Presidency created the vacancy.
Records on elections in Montserrado over the past three elections have proven that Montserrado is the strong hold of CDC.
In 2014, George Weah contested against the son of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Mr. Robert A. Sirleaf, and obtained the most votes as compare to all the candidates in the race.
The CDC primary in which Rep. Joseph emerged as the sole candidate comes days after he was endorsed by a fellow lawmaker, Rep. Moses Acarous Gray.
Mr. Gray had earlier announced his intention to also run on the party’s ticket for the same post. He, however, backed off and pushed his colleague forward.
Joseph is presently serving his second term as a Representative after he received overwhelming votes from residents of his district 13 in the 2017 Presidential and Legislative Elections.
He is admired and loved by many for his individual role played during the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus disease (EVD).
He, at the head of a team of responders, provided first aid emergency responses for many Liberians, who fell prey to the virus.
He supported the government in the movement of patients from communities to treatment centers when government had limited resource to provide the needed response.
He is nicked name “Ebola hero.” He is also a recipient of several humanitarian awards for his support to humanity.
He was in October of 2018 elected by his people to serve a second term of office.
When he was declared the winner in the primary, Rep. Joseph promised to fit in the shoes of President Weah (than Senator) in the Senate and asked supporters of the CDC to rally behind him.
At the end of the primary, CDC Chairman Morlu named Representative Thomas Fallah, Lewis Wright and Musa Corneh as members of Rep. Saah Joseph’s campaign team.
