Monrovia – The membership of the Press Union of Liberia has voted to suspend the vice president of the Union for what was considered as gross disrespect to the leadership of the Union.
Mr. Octavin Williams expressed his disappointment in the leadership of the Union for deciding to suspend membership of Information Minister Lenn Eugene Nagbe.
Mr. Nagbe, being a member of the PUL, described the Union as a “useless entity which does not know its functions”.
The Union described the action of the Minister as “rowdy” and he should be therefore turned over to the Media Council for investigation and further action.
Williams has also been turned over to the Media Council for investigation.
Members of the Union at a mass meeting on Friday said it was inappropriate for the vice president of the Union to publicly go counter to the interest of body.
Mr. Williams failed to attend the mass meeting called by the leadership. This action was viewed as disrespectful to the Union.
