Monrovia – Investigators of the Crime Services Division of the Liberia National Police have charged Hassan Kanneh with manslaughter after he allegedly killed his fiancée.

The Liaison Office of the LNP Thursday, May 17, forwarded Kanneh, 36, to the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice.
Magistrate Kennedy Peabody later ordered his detention at the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP) pending prosecution.
Police charge sheet, in the possession of this paper, claimed that Kanneh, a resident of the New Hope Community in Jacob Town on the Somalia Drive, on May 15 was arrested for allegedly stabbing his fiancée Princess Dwalo, 24, in their bedroom.
The police charge sheet reveals that on the night of April 6, at about 11Pm while defendant Kanneh and the victim were in their bedroom a misunderstanding ensued between the both of them over an alleged extra love affairs which provoked his fiancée’s to cut off his penis and in the process, the defendant in return retaliated by stabbing her to death in the middle of her chest leading to her death.
According to the police, a housemate identified as Sidiki Keita forced into the room and found the couple severely injured.
The charge sheet: “Princess Dwalo was observed lying in a pool of blood unconscious, while defendant Kanneh was observed sub-conscious with penis cut off and the piece and the piece also lying on the bed.”
It also revealed that a black handle kitchen knife stained with blood was also seen on the bed with a pair of black shower slippers.
An attendant to defendant Kanneh, Rubin Kadia, who was awakened by the noise, recalled that the defendant and the deceased in a tussle on the bed when his housemate forced the door opened and saw blood on the bed, the police charge sheet stated.
However, the charge sheet further explained that when defendant Kanneh was asked during the investigation to respond to the allegation levied against him, he could not deny or confirm the incident, but stated that he could not remember what took place between him and his lover Princess Dwalo that night while in their bedroom.
The police investigation also established that the argument which ensued between defendant Kanneh and the victim may have occurred from news the defendant wife was about to return from the Republic of Guinea on Sunday, 8th 2018 where she was spending time with her family.
The charge sheet concluded: “In view of the foregoing facts and circumstances, coupled with the evidence adduced and witnesses’ testimonies, this investigation has resolved to charge defendant Kanneh with manslaughter in violation of Chapter 14, Subchapter B and Section 14.2 of the revised penal code of Liberia pending court trial.”
