The 21-year-old center-back, who enjoyed a stellar 2024/2025 campaign with Heaven Eleven FC, put pen to paper on a multi-year deal with the Malé-based club following the successful completion of his medical and administrative clearance.
New Radiant SC officially unveiled Swen on Wednesday , hailing the defender as a cornerstone acquisition aimed at fortifying their defensive line ahead of the upcoming League season.
From Grassroots to National Recognition
Swen’s journey to South Asia caps a rapid rise through the domestic football pyramid in Liberia.
Developed in the youth ranks at Pepper FC in Monrovia, the right-footed defender transitioned to top-flight football when he signed with Heaven Eleven FC in July 2023.
During his tenure with The Messengers, Swen established himself as one of the most reliable and tactically disciplined central defenders in the country.
Capable of operating effectively at both center-back and right-back, his aerial presence, composure on the ball, and tackle timing earned him widespread acclaim.
His exceptional consistency throughout the 2024/2025 season culminated in him capturing the coveted Best Defender Award at the Liberia Football Association (LFA) awards ceremony, cementing his status as one of Liberia’s premier defensive talents.
Albert represents the caliber of modern, tactical defenders emerging from the domestic league.
His reading of the game and adaptability under pressure made him an indispensable asset for Heaven Eleven, and this move overseas is a natural progression.
The Liberian Connection in Malé
Swen’s arrival at New Radiant SC sees him reunite with fellow countryman Abdulai Yaya Bility, who made the move to the Maldives last season. Bility’s impressive individual performances in the Maldivian top flight played a key role in opening doors for additional Liberian talent in the region.
The former Heaven Eleven duo is expected to form a formidable partnership in New Radiant team.
Club officials expressed confidence that the natural synergy and shared national team background between Swen and Bility will accelerate Swen’s integration into the squad.
In an official statement welcoming the Liberian international, New Radiant SC expressed enthusiasm for their latest signing:
“We are delighted to welcome Albert Kayee Swen to the ‘Blues Family.’ Albert brings proven winning quality, tactical maturity, and international experience to our squad. We look forward to seeing him anchor our defense as we compete for silverware in the coming campaign.”
Expanding the Liberian Footprint Abroad
Swen’s transfer reflects a growing trend of Liberian domestic stars earning professional opportunities in emerging Asian leagues.
With the Dhivehi Premier League offering competitive exposure and continental club competition pathways via AFC tournaments, the move provides Swen with an ideal platform to further catch the eye of Liberia Senior National Team (Lone Star) technical staff ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
Speaking briefly following the announcement, Swen expressed gratitude to his former club and eagerness for the next chapter of his career:
“I want to extend my sincere thanks to Heaven Eleven FC, my coaches, teammates, and the fans who supported me throughout my time at the club ,” Swen said. “Joining New Radiant Sports Club is a huge honor. My focus now is to adapt quickly, give everything on the pitch, and help the team achieve all its goals this season.”
Swen has already joined New Radiant’s pre-season training camp in Malé as the club finalizes preparations for their season opener.
