Monrovia – As momentum gets high for this year’s August 24 National Flag Day celebration, the Liberia Scout Association (LSA), said it has listed 50 personnel for the parade.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with FrontPageAfrica over the weekend, the National Executive Commissioner of LSA, Mr. Melvin J. Jones, disclosed that their personnel were already rehearsing at the Edward Beyan Kesselee (EBK) Barrack.
According to Jones, the Flag Day is important because it symbolizes the pride of the country.
“We are calling on all of our scouts across the country to prepare themselves and get ready to fly the flag widely. The flag represents us as a people united for peace and democracy.”
He added: “The day is very significant. It is not just a day for leisure, but a day set aside to reflect on our history and find a real meaning in making Liberia a better home for all.”
According to the LSA Executive Commissioner, in their basic training, they are trained on the important of the flag.
Commissioner Jones says as scouts, they respect the flag. He furthers that the flag means a whole lot to them as it represents their national identity.
“The flag means so much to us. During our basic training; we trained scouts the importance of the flag, what the flag signifies and what we owe to the flag as a scout and our role we play in the society,” he said.
“Our scouts are carrying on the drill rehearsal at the EBK military barrack,” he stated.
The LSA Commissioner also praised the Ministry of Education for the official invitation to take part in the National Flag Day celebration.
Unlike in the past when the Liberia Scout Association would just show up for the National Flag Day parade, Commissioner Jones said it’s the first of its kind for the country’s Scout Association to be officially invited to such event by the Ministry of Education.
Commissioner Jones: “We are very much appreciative, and we want to send our gratitude to the Ministry of Education under the leadership of Hon. Prof. Ansu Sonii.”
