In a statement issued October 27, 2026, Rep. Wuo said the reported incidents warranted urgent attention from the relevant authorities, stressing the need to protect lives, uphold the rule of law and ensure that affected families receive credible answers.
According to reports, two Grebo citizens from River Gee County, identified as Godfrey Kligbeh and Ransford A. Zloryou, reportedly disappeared in May 2026, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
More recently, the body of Grebo elder Sam Geekor was discovered on October 23 in Kanneh Clan, Grand Gedeh County, after he was reportedly declared missing.
A coroner’s jury reportedly observed a cut mark on the left side of Geekor’s neck. However, the official cause and circumstances of his death have not been publicly established, and no suspects have been officially identified.
The incidents have heightened concerns within the Grebo community, prompting a traditional demonstration in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, on October 26, as residents called for answers.
Rep. Wuo acknowledged the community’s right to peacefully express its concerns but urged residents to remain calm, avoid speculation and allow the relevant institutions to establish the facts through a credible and impartial process.
He also extended condolences to Geekor’s family and other families affected by the reported incidents, emphasizing that every citizen is entitled to life, security and equal protection under the law.
“These incidents must receive the serious attention they warrant, and the families concerned deserve timely, credible information about the efforts being made to establish the truth,” Rep. Wuo stated.
The River Gee lawmaker called on the Grand Gedeh Legislative Caucus, relevant county authorities and the Ministry of Justice, through appropriate law enforcement agencies, to support prompt, thorough and impartial investigations into the reported disappearances and Geekor’s death.
He further urged authorities to pursue all lawful avenues to establish the whereabouts of the missing citizens and ensure that anyone against whom sufficient evidence is established is held accountable in accordance with Liberian law and due process.
Rep. Wuo also encouraged the responsible authorities to maintain open communication with affected families and community leaders, provide appropriate updates as investigations permit, and take lawful measures to protect residents against further harm.
The lawmaker cautioned against allowing the incidents to fuel ethnic prejudice, political interference or premature conclusions about responsibility.
He stressed that no individual or community should be blamed without credible evidence, while warning that no allegation should be dismissed without proper examination.
“Peaceful demands for answers should be met with seriousness, respect, and lawful action,” he said.
“The public deserves a responsible response, not speculation or silence. I urge the relevant authorities to investigate these matters without fear or favor, respect the rights of everyone involved, and pursue accountability wherever the evidence and law support it.
“Our shared responsibility is to protect human life, preserve peace, and ensure that the truth is established through due process,” Rep. Wuo added.
The Office of Representative Wuo reiterated its condolences to the family of Sam Geekor and all families affected by the reported incidents, urging the Grebo community and residents of Grand Gedeh County to remain peaceful while pressing for a transparent and credible response from the relevant institutions.
The lawmaker said the overriding concerns should be truth, lawful accountability, the protection of every citizen and justice through due process.
