The conference hosted under the theme, “Domestic Revenue Mobilization for Enhanced Stability and Resilience in West Africa”, is annually held among member State Legislatures.

Rep. Gahr was elected during the 10th annual General Assembly of WAAPAC, which took place this week in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

In his acceptance speech, Rep. Gahr pledged to advance transparency and accountability across the West African region.

“We intend to use this position to foster greater accountability and transparency in our respective governments,” Rep. Gahr vowed following his election.

WAAPAC, founded in 2009, seeks to enhance collaboration between Public Accounts Committees, governments, and key stakeholders. The organization’s mission is to improve the management of public funds through strengthened oversight, promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance across West Africa.

Back in Liberia, Gahr’s constituents have expressed pride in his election to this regional post, seeing it as recognition of his contributions to Liberia and the African continent.

“Rep. Gahr’s leadership and dedication to good governance have been acknowledged with this appointment,” said Juetay Toe, a resident of Margibi.

Toe added, “This achievement brings honor to Liberia, Margibi County, and District #5. It also opens new opportunities for cooperation and development. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Clarence G. Gahr in this well-deserved election!”
