Monrovia – President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has pledged to transform the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) into the most formidable military force in the region, ensuring it plays a critical role in safeguarding the nation’s future.
Speaking at the Pinning Ceremony of the AFL’s Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff, President Boakai highlighted the importance of strengthening the military to enhance national security.
“We will do everything to make the army the best in the region and guarantee the trust and security of our people,” he declared.
While acknowledging the AFL’s progress, the president recognized ongoing challenges, such as delays in implementing reforms designed to improve the military’s capacity. He expressed determination to overcome these obstacles, ensuring the AFL is equipped to meet the nation’s security needs.
The ceremony saw Brigadier General Davidson Forleh promoted to Major General, and Colonel Theophilus Dana elevated to Brigadier General. Both men have served the AFL for over 18 years and are recognized for their leadership and dedication.
Major General Forleh, in his address, reaffirmed the AFL’s commitment to defending Liberia’s Constitution and ensuring the nation’s security. “We are committed to ensuring that Liberia’s military remains a force for good and a pillar of national strength,” he said.
With growing regional instability, President Boakai’s administration faces the task of modernizing the AFL and securing the necessary support to position it as a leading force in West Africa.
