MONROVIA– President Joseph Boakai has warned members of his cabinet against undermining decisions made by his administration, stating that officials who incite resistance against government policies risk being removed from office.

Speaking during the first cabinet meeting of 2026, President Boakai revealed that some government officials have been in the habit of working against decisions collectively agreed upon by the administration.
The meeting focused on reviewing the implementation status of the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), the administration’s key development framework aimed at advancing national priorities and improving progress across major sectors.
During the meeting held on March 5, 2026, the Liberian leader did not name the officials allegedly undermining government decisions.
However, his remarks come amid ongoing protests by workers at the Ministry of Transport.
Employees at the Transport Ministry have recently staged protests over the creation of Liberia Traffic Management Incorporated (LTMI).
The company is a private entity working with the government of Liberia to improve road safety, enforce traffic regulations, and manage vehicle-related services—functions that were previously handled by the Transport Ministry.
President Boakai cautioned that any official found encouraging public resistance to government policies would face dismissal.
“There are lots of ministers here. When we make decisions, they go and undermine those very decisions—they go and push the people to resist,” President Boakai said.
“But I can tell you that nobody here means so much that cannot be removed.”
The president emphasized that while disagreements among officials are acceptable, they must be expressed during internal discussions rather than through actions that undermine government policies.
“If we sit and agree on something, if you have disagreements say it right there. But we cannot agree on something and you go and undermine it. If we find it out, you will go,” he added.
President Boakai also reminded cabinet members of their responsibilities in ensuring effective governance and delivering results for the Liberian people.
“We are running a government. This country has gone through a lot. The Liberian people want results,” he said.
He further noted that ministries must stand by the advice and decisions they provide to the government.
“We have the Ministry of Justice—they are our lawyers. If they give us advice and it is not correct, they are responsible for it. You cannot go and make people get agitated. When we find out, you will leave because you don’t intend to be part of our team.”
