According to reports gathered by our Nimba County correspondent, the Sierra Leonean murder suspect, Abraham Mohammed, offered the money to secure his release and facilitate his escape to his home country. The incident involved the killing of Mohammed’s girlfriend at a local guest house in Ganta’s Pearson community.

In early May 2023, the lifeless body of a woman, believed to be in her early 40s, was discovered in a room at the F2 guest house in the Pearson community, shortly after she and her boyfriend arrived in Ganta.

Our correspondent stated that the victim, Oretha Korwood, a resident of Gbeyi-Guawin Town in District Number 9, Nimba County, met her tragic demise when her Sierra Leonean boyfriend, Abraham Mohammed, allegedly murdered her at the guest house. The suspect reportedly used a generator rope and other weapons to end her life.

Following the discovery, Mr. David Kenzie, the manager of F2 guest house in the Pearson community, informed reporters that Abraham Mohammed had provided false information, including a fake name and cell phone number, upon entering the facility. The suspect’s current location was also undisclosed.

According to Mr. Kenzie, Abraham Mohammed spent the night at the guest house before killing the mother of his two children and sealing the door to the room, leaving the victim’s body inside.

The former District Education Officer for Bain-Garr Educational District expressed his dismay, stating that the workers attempted to clean the room the next day but found it still locked. This prompted the management to report the incident to the police.

Since the occurrence in early May, the Ganta police, led by Commander Archie Dennis and the Criminal Investigation Department, initiated an investigation into the case. Currently, Commander Jenkins N. Mangou and Deputy Alexander Franklin are in Monrovia, undergoing police scrutiny as part of the ongoing investigation.
