GANTA, Nimba County — The People’s Liberation Party (PLP) has officially reopened its county office in Ganta, marking what party leaders describe as a major step in revitalizing its political structure following years of decline.

The reopening ceremony, held Friday, is part of a broader nationwide “revamping” effort aimed at repositioning the party after the death of its founder, Daniel E. Cassell, whose passing significantly weakened the party’s momentum.
Addressing partisans and supporters, PLP Political Leader Tapple E. Doe said the reopening of the Nimba County headquarters signals the party’s return to active political engagement and long-term ambition.
“Today, we gather here not just to open an office, but to declare that the PLP is back—and back to stay,” Doe declared.
He announced that the party is restructuring its operations across Liberia and confirmed that the PLP will field candidates in the 2029 presidential and legislative elections.
During his address, Doe outlined the party’s “Affordability Agenda,” a policy framework focused on easing economic pressures and improving living standards. Key proposals include affordable healthcare, housing development, agricultural investment, youth empowerment, and job creation.
The PLP also pledged to prioritize Liberian workers in foreign-owned companies, reduce import tariffs, and streamline port clearance processes to cut costs for businesses and consumers.
“Our goal is to build a Liberia where citizens can not only survive but get ahead,” Doe said, emphasizing the party’s commitment to economic inclusion and social protection.
He further stressed the importance of investing in young people through skills training and employment opportunities, describing youth development as a “non-compromising priority” for the party.
The event also recognized the contributions of local party officials in Nimba County, particularly Chairman Murphy Saye and his team, for sustaining the party’s presence following the 2023 elections that brought President Joseph Nyumah Boakai to power.
With the reopening of its Ganta office, the PLP is seeking to rebuild its grassroots base and reassert itself as a competitive force in Liberia’s evolving political landscape.
