Liberia: Nimba Legislative Caucus Elects New Leadership, Pledges Unified Approach for County’s Progress

MONROVIA – The Nimba County Caucus of the 55^th National Legislature has elected its leadership team, signaling a fresh start for the county’s governance. Senator Prince Jonson has been re-elected as Chairman, alongside newly elected Representative Saye Meanah of District #8, stepping in as Co-chairman. Representative Dorwohn Twain Gleekia of District #6 assumes the role of Secretary General, while Representative Musu Bility of District #7 and Representative Naker Gaye of District #3 will serve as Financial Secretary and Chaplain, respectively.

Following their inauguration, the Caucus convened with the outgoing county administration and the Project Management Committee (PMC). In this session, the departing administration and PMC provided an overview of the County’s status, highlighting achievements in maintaining peace, ensuring economic stability, and managing financial accounts effectively.

Additionally, the PMC delivered updates on ongoing projects and the county’s earthmoving equipment inventory. After thorough deliberations, the Caucus delegated Representatives Naker Gaye of District #3 and Manseah of District #4 to review the presentations and present a comprehensive report within two weeks.

To commemorate the occasion, Chairman Senator Prince Yormie Johnson hosted a luncheon, emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation within the Caucus. He underscored these values as crucial for Nimba’s growth and development. Furthermore, he called for an audit of the outgoing county administration and PMC, advocating for transparency and accountability.

Historically, strained relations between the legislative caucus and county administration have hindered progress, leading to disagreements over project implementation and county proceedings. In the previous legislature, internal discord disrupted caucus operations.

With a commitment to unity and collaboration, the newly elected members of the Nimba County Legislative Caucus in the 55^th Legislature have pledged to chart a new course for the county’s advancement.
