Graie Town, Nimba County — A native son of Ziah Old Town in Electoral District Number 9, Nimba County, Ralph Nemenla Sonkarlay, has donated five bags of rice and L$27,000 to support the Doe District Youth Conference in Graie Town on the Saclepea – Tappita Highway.

The donation is intended to help host the conference, which will bring together young people from across the district to discuss issues affecting youth and to explore ways to promote leadership, unity, and community development.
Speaking to reporters after the donation, Mr. Sonkarlay said empowering young people is essential to building a stronger, more prosperous society.
He stated that creating opportunities for youth to gather, learn and exchange ideas will equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to become responsible leaders and active contributors to their communities.
In addition to the five bags of rice, Mr. Sonkarlay presented L$27,000 in cash to assist with the conference’s logistical and organizational needs.
He described the contribution as part of his commitment to ensuring the event is successful and beneficial to participants.
Mr. Sonkarlay noted that the conference will provide an important platform for educating young people on leadership, community engagement and positive civic participation.
He pledged to continue working with Doe District youth and to support future initiatives that advance their welfare and development.
Citizens said Mr. Sonkarlay is known for his continued support of development activities across towns and villages in District 9, including scholarship opportunities for young people.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Doe District Youth, Alfred Sonkarlay Amilton, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Sonkarlay for the timely contribution.
He described the gift as a demonstration of genuine concern for the youth’s future and said both the rice and the cash would significantly contribute to the conference’s success.
Mr. Amilton encouraged other sons and daughters of District Number 9 both at home and abroad to emulate Mr. Sonkarlay’s example by supporting youth initiatives that promote education, leadership, and community development.
The Doe District Youth Conference is expected to attract participants from various towns and communities to discuss youth empowerment, leadership, peace-building and strategies for fostering sustainable development across the district.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sonkarlay has pledged to continue development activities across the district aimed at addressing the citizens’ needs.
He added that the young people will benefit from scholarship opportunities and other programs.
