Monrovia – It was a moment of joy for the children of the Calvary International Orphanage in Barnesville, a suburb of Monrovia when a local charity, ‘For A Brighter Future’ (FABF) donated a consignment of assorted materials to them as they celebrate the Day of the African Child.

The materials include rice, clothes, footwear, copy books and toys, among others.
Presenting the items on behalf of the group, the Chief Executive Officer, Sandy M. Ghandour said the gesture is their way of identifying with the children.
Miss Ghandour hailed the effort of the caretakers and promised to return with more donations soon.
“I am very sure you’ll handle the management and distribution well. I really want to appreciate you guys. It is not many people in Liberia that are really honest and dedicated in helping children. Other people are in it for their own needs,” Ghandour said.
“And to find people, especially you, means so much to us and actually make our broken hearts heal a little better. We hope that what we brought today will be of a little assistance to the children and in the future, we will be able to do more,” she pledged.
Receiving the materials, the Co-founder of the orphanage, Madam Rachael Stemn, on behalf of her husband and staff thanked FABF for the donation and pledged to use the items properly.
“Words are inadequate to express this afternoon. I want to say thank you to all those that brought these gifts. Let God bless you and replenish it,” she said.
Giving a brief history of the Orphanage, Madam Stemn explained that the orphanage was established during he Liberian civil war in the early 1990s to cater to the needs of children that were made orphans or missing from their parents due to the brutal civil war.
About ‘For A Brighter Future and Its Goal’
According to the Miss Ghandour, ‘For A Brighter Future’ (FABF) is a newly established charity organization founded by a group of young people, mostly her schoolmates and friends with the aim of helping under-privileged Liberian children in whatever way they can.
In an exclusive interview with Frontpage Africa following a guided tour of the Calvary International Orphanage, Ghandour and her team members noted that with the donations and continuous support from their partners, they intend to reach out to at least 250 orphans and under-privileged kids before the end of the year.
“Our drive and passion behind this initiative is just out of love and care. We are fortunate enough and we thank God that we have good families and we live in good homes and we just want to do the same for the kids. From here, we hope to move to another orphanage, probably out of Monrovia, and we will keep going and hopefully by the end of the year, we will have helped at least 250 kids,” the CEO noted.
Waled M. Wegbe, FABF General Manager added: “It is heartbreaking to see these kids without parents and suffering from cold, no food to eat and you can see the tears in their eyes. Today, we did a huge donation as you can see. We will try our best to improve the facility. We will try to get electricity here, food to eat, get them coal to cook, fix where they sleep and gave them more clothes.”
Meanwhile, FABF has commended all of its partners and sponsors including the World Lebanese Culture Union (WLCU), Cherrif Pharmacy, No.1 Stationary and Powertech among others and called on others to do the same in order to help the needy children of Liberia.
