MONROVIA — The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission has cleared suspended Director General of the Liberia Agricultural Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA), Christopher D Sankolo, of all allegations of corruption bringing to a close months of investigation and public debate following his suspension by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.

The decision by the Commission is contained in an official clearance certificate issued on January 15, 2026 under case reference number 00591 which confirms that Sankolo was the subject of an investigation into alleged financial impropriety and acts of corruption involving officials of the Liberia Agricultural Commodity Regulatory Authority.
According to the LACC, the investigation found no evidence sufficient to establish criminal liability or justify prosecution.
The Commission disclosed that its probe involved a comprehensive review of documents, financial records and other relevant materials as well as the assessment of information gathered during the course of the investigation.
After completing the process, the LACC concluded that there was no probable cause to pursue legal or criminal proceedings against the suspended LACRA Director General.
In a detailed statement included in the clearance document, the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission stated that upon a thorough examination of the facts and available evidence, it was determined that no legal basis existed to continue the case.
The Commission explained that no charges were filed against Sankolo and that the matter has been officially closed. It further clarified that the clearance was issued strictly based on the findings of the investigation and should not be interpreted as an endorsement beyond the scope of the specific inquiry conducted by the Commission.
The LACC emphasized that the clearance remains binding and that all previous clearances related to the matter are revoked, reinforcing the finality of the decision. The Commission also reiterated that its investigation was conducted independently professionally and in line with its statutory mandate to prevent and combat corruption while ensuring fairness and due process for all individuals subject to investigation.
Sankolo was suspended from his position at LACRA by President Joseph Boakai in June 26, 2025 to allow the investigation to proceed without interference. At the time the Executive Mansion made clear that the suspension was an administrative action and not a declaration of guilt, stressing the government’s commitment to transparency accountability and respect for institutional processes.
Under Sankolo’s administration, the Liberia Agricultural Commodity Regulatory Authority was also recognized as the leading government agencies in the implementation of the Performance Management and Compliance System.
