Monrovia – The president of Future FC has expressed strong confidence in his team’s chances as they prepare for the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Third Division Playoffs, following a successful campaign in the Grand Cape Mount County Sub-Association League.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with FrontPage Africa, Future FC President George Newreh said the club remains focused on achieving its ultimate goal of securing promotion and competing strongly in the upcoming national playoffs.
Future FC secured qualification to the LFA Third Division Playoffs after finishing second behind Kandakai FC in the Grand Cape Mount County Sub-Association Third Division League.
The two clubs are now set to face each other in the county championship final to determine the overall county champion, though a date for the match is yet to be announced.
The league commenced with eight participating teams five from Garwola District Sub-Committee and three from the Commonwealth District Sub-Committee. Notably, both finalists, Kandakai FC and Future FC, represent the Garwola District.
Newreh explained that Future FC is based in the Matambo Estate community at the Mano Oil Plantation in Grand Cape Mount County.
The club was established in 2020 with the vision of identifying and developing young football talents in the region.
“It all started in 2020 when I observed that many young people in the Matambo Estate community had a strong passion for football,” Newreh said. “I brought them together, initiated training sessions, and within six months, their commitment, discipline, and understanding of the game convinced me that we could build a highly competitive football club.”
According to Newreh, the team’s progress has been remarkable. After registering for the LFA Fourth Division League, Future FC spent three seasons in the lower tier before earning promotion to the Third Division under the guidance of Head Coach Foday Foboi.
The club has continued its upward trajectory and has now qualified to represent Grand Cape Mount County in the 2025/2026 LFA Third Division Playoffs.
Newreh praised Coach Foboi for his pivotal role in the team’s development, crediting him with successfully guiding the club from the Fourth Division to the Third Division, and now into the national playoff arena.
He further urged his players to intensify their preparations ahead of both the county championship final against Kandakai FC and the upcoming LFA Third Division Playoffs.
“We have come a long way, but there is still work to be done,” Newreh added. “I encourage the players to remain focused and committed as we prepare for these crucial matches. Our objective is to continue making our community proud and achieve success at the national level.”
