Monrovia – 18 January 2026 – Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, is leading the nation’s official delegation to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, which has started today January 19–23, 2026, in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.
The high-level delegation includes the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, and the Chairman of the National Investment Commission (NIC), Mr. Jeff Blibo. Liberia’s participation at WEF Davos represents a historic milestone, underscoring the country’s growing international credibility, sustained reform momentum, and re-emergence as a credible partner in global economic and investment engagement.
Under the leadership of Foreign Minister Nyanti, the delegation will advance Liberia’s economic diplomacy agenda, deepen strategic international partnerships, and position the country as an emerging destination for responsible and sustainable investment. The joint participation of the Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Investment authorities reflects a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to elevating Liberia’s profile within the global economic arena.
On the margins of the Forum, the Liberian Team will engage global policymakers, development finance institutions, investors, and corporate leaders to present Liberia’s macroeconomic outlook, ongoing fiscal reforms, development priorities, and expanding investment opportunities, with particular emphasis on job creation and inclusive economic growth.
Foreign Minister Nyanti will provide opening remarks at a senior-level roundtable on the Future of Liberia: Global Partnerships and Economic Diplomacy organized by the Ministey of Foreign Affairs in partnership with Foreign Policy magazine. The roundtable, scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Financial Times House (Hotel Parsenn) in Davos, will bring together 15–20 high-level participants, including global investors, multinational executives, and representatives of leading development finance institutions.
During the session, Minister Ngafuan is expected to deliver a keynote address highlighting Liberia’s transition toward investment readiness, priority reform initiatives, and opportunities across key sectors of the economy. Discussions will further underscore Liberia’s rising international standing, including its historic ascension as an incoming non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, and the broader implications for regional stability and global cooperation. These issues will also be explored during a panel discussion led by Foreign Minister Sara Beyslow Nyanti, Finance Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, and National Investment Commission Chairman Jeff Blibo.
The 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum is being held under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue,” at a time of heightened global uncertainty driven by geopolitical tensions, economic pressures, climate risks, and rapid technological change. The Forum provides a trusted platform for leaders to engage in candid dialogue, expand professional networks, and identify practical, cooperative solutions to shared global challenges.
Nearly 3,000 participants from more than 130 countries are expected, including approximately 400 political leaders—among them nearly 65 heads of state and government—as well as some 850 chief executives and chairpersons of leading global companies.
Liberia’s inaugural participation at WEF Davos, led by Foreign Minister Nyanti and supported by Finance Minister Ngafuan and NIC Chairman Blibo, reaffirms the country’s commitment to proactive global engagement, investor confidence-building, and a unified national approach to economic diplomacy aimed at attracting partnerships, creating jobs, and driving inclusive growth and long-term development.
