Monrovia- Democratic People’s Party of Liberia (DPPL) Standard Bearer, Rev. David GB Kiamu has hailed partisans and supporters of DPPL as well as the voting population for turning out in what he termed “record numbers” to vote on Tuesday, October 10.
According to Rev. Kiamu, his party’s decision to endorse the tickets of Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai and Senator Jeremiah Kpan Koung for the October 10, elections dubbed the “RESCUE MISSION” was good for the country, as the overwhelming majority of the electorates supported the Rescue Mission, as being manifested by the massive turnout on elections day.
Rev. Kiamu maintained that based on the results from Official NEC Tally Sheets from almost all of the Voting Precincts (Polling Places) across the country in the possession of the DPPL have given confidence that the Boakai-Koung Ticket is up for a first-round victory.
Rev. Kiamu said as a Party that truly believes in and subscribes to democratic values, tenets as well and the rule of law, they are waiting on the National Elections Commission, the body with the statutory responsibility to officiate and announce results within 15 days after the polls.
Rev. Kiamu reiterated that his Party’s decision was not just democratic, nationalistic, and patriotic but also economically prudent to save the country and friends of Liberia from the waste of resources, time, and energy for a runoff election, adding that such decisions are made by patriots and nationalists who put country over and above themselves or personal interest.
Rev. Kiamu has called on his partisans, leadership, and supporters, and all Liberians at the national, regional, county, district, chiefdom, clan, section, township, community, zone, block, and diaspora levels to remain calm and peaceful at numbers don’t lie.
Meanwhile, Rev. Kiamu has called on the NEC to ensure that the true mandate of the Liberian electorates as expressed in their votes is announced, saying …” what is true and correct must not take longer time.”
