GBARNGA — The Deputy Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Minister McGill Jones, has once again reaffirmed his dedication to the advancement of education by providing financial assistance to students at Bong Technical University.

Through an initial payment of LD$500,000, he has taken a significant step toward ensuring that dozens of deserving students remain in school despite economic challenges.
The initiative reflects a vision of empowering young people through access to quality education, while also reinforcing the importance of sustained support rather than one time contributions.
A total of thirty six students are currently benefiting from the sponsorship program, which has now entered its third consecutive semester under the support of Minister McGill Jones.
The continuity of this initiative underscores a strong commitment to seeing students through their academic journey, rather than offering temporary relief.
Many of the recipients have expressed that the assistance has significantly reduced the stress associated with tuition payments, allowing them to devote more time and energy to their studies.
The consistency of the program has also helped build trust and motivation among the students, who now feel encouraged to strive for academic excellence.
Speaking on the purpose behind the initiative, Minister McGill Jones emphasized that education remains a cornerstone for national progress and youth empowerment.
He highlighted that investing in students is a strategic way of preparing the next generation to take on leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to society.
According to him, the development of Liberia depends largely on how well its young people are equipped with knowledge, skills, and opportunities. He stressed that supporting education is not just an act of generosity but a responsibility that can shape the future of the nation in profound ways.
Deputy Minister McGill Jones further clarified that his involvement with the university and the sponsorship program is strictly non political. He noted that his efforts are driven solely by a desire to uplift young people through education and not by any intention to gain political advantage in Bong County.
He maintained that education should remain free from political influence so that all students, regardless of background or affiliation, can benefit equally.
By keeping the initiative neutral, he believes it will continue to serve its true purpose of empowering students without creating division or bias.
Students who have benefited from the tuition aid have described the support as both timely and transformative. Several of them explained that the financial relief has enabled them to stay enrolled and focus on achieving their academic goals.
They also acknowledged that the gesture has inspired them to work harder and make meaningful contributions to their communities in the future.
