Liberia Civil Aviation Authority Cautioned over Compliance and Safety following Ethiopian Airline Boeing 737-8 MAX Crash

MONROVIA – FrontPageAfrica has gathered the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) has received some cautions from the European Council of Aviation over the potential risks involved in permitting Boeing 737-800 MAX use of Liberia’s airspace.

Report by Lennart Dodoo, [email protected]

Authorities at the LCAA are tight-lipped on inquiries pertaining to the alert.

The alert was issued recently following Sunday’s fatal crash of Ethiopian Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 MAX.

Neither Ethiopian Airlines or Boeing 737-800 MAX is flying to Liberia. However, older versions of 737 are among regular flights landing at the Roberts International Airport.

“The 737-800 MAX and newer models are not among the fleet coming to Liberia. Usually, those planes go to traffic zones. It’s not coming to Liberia,” the LCAA source said.

Twenty-eight European countries have grounded the aircraft. Others include Australia, Bermuda, Canada, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Panama, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the United States.
