Monrovia – Liberia’s Ambassador designate to the United States of America, Jeff Duwana, has said he would rekindle the long-standing relationship between Liberian and the United States of America when confirmed by the Liberian Senate.
Duwana was nominated by President George Weah to replace Ambassador George Pattern, who was recently recalled by the Liberian leader.
At his confirming hearing by the Liberian Senate recently, Duwana promised to “open the doors that have been shut in Washington”.
“We have what it takes to strengthen that long standing relationship we have with the US. We can change a lot. That is the first thing I have in mind and it’s the first thing I am going to do,” he said.
Duwana holds a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from the NYACK College in New York. He earlier earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Liberia.
He is a career diplomat who served at several postings, including in London, New York, Washington DC, Paris, and his current assignment as Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary to Kuwait.
If confirmed as Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States of America by the Senate, He will have concurrent Non-Resident Accreditation to Canada and Mexico.
