Liberia: ALCOP Vice Standard-Bearer Matthew Darblo Endorses President Weah’s Second Term Bid

MONROVIA – The Vice Standard Bearer of the All Liberia Coalition Party (ALCOP), Mr. Matthew V.Z. Darblo, has pledged his unflinching support to President Weah in the second round of Liberia’s presidential election against the Unity Party on November 14, 2023.

The ALCOP Vice Standard Bearer in a press conference held on Thursday in Monrovia, stated that his party in totality has endorsed the re-election of President Weah based on continuing and ending unfinished projects he has embarked on over the last five years geared towards the interest of the country.

“The Liberian people have reached the stage where the best decision will have to be made that will develop Liberia. President George Weah will be re-elected and when he is re-elected, he is going to have ample time to complete unfinished tasks,” Darblo said.

According to him: “the decision to support the re-election of President Weah wasn’t done singlehandedly but in consultation with other executive members of ALCOP. And with all of the consensus gathered, ALCOP as an institution has endorsed the re-election of President Weah and this was done without any political inducement,” Darblo said.

Darblo further said: “As of today, ALCOP and its majority members are with the CDC and will remain with President Weah to secure a massive win that will be in the interest of Liberia because George Weah remains the last hope towards speedy transformation for all Liberians.”

“There is no division of support in ALCOP, though some of our executive members have endorsed the Unity Party while we, the majority have decided to support the re-election of President Weah because we have tested his leadership and believe that he will do better,” Darblo added.
