To the opposition: You tell Liberians the “Weah government” is not working,” “it is not doing what the people elected them to do,” and we respect that. But you claim you have come to rescue and redeem Liberia. Therefore, we ask that you tell us really from what you have come to rescue and redeem Liberia

You say that there is no law and order and protection, but we know that in August 2022, the United States under the Global Magnitsky Act, sanctioned Hon. Nathaniel McGill, Saymah Syrenius Cephus, and Bill Twehway for their involvement in public corruption, and they were immediately suspended by President George Weah; that is law and order. Also, for the past almost six years we have experienced stable peace both within the nation and with our neighboring countries without the aid of the United Nations; that is protection. May we tell you of the freedom that this government has brought us? A freedom that promotes independence, self-determination, a freedom of speech.
It is true that this government has had its own failures, yes. Perhaps you don’t know that every great leader is beset with difficulties and meets with temporary defeat before arriving.
Despite the fact that many Liberians are unemployed, some Liberians are creating businesses and attracting foreign investment. We all know that this government has created an attractive environment for investment: transparent regulations and policies, even for foreign investment; incentives and tax breaks to foreign investment; infrastructure that is, transportation networks, energy and water supply, and communication technologies. We also know that Liberia lacks a skilled workforce that is critical to attracting Foreign Investment, but within the past five years, Liberians have been grooming and developing with a variety of skills through different scholarship opportunities, government aid, and Non-Governmental Organizations aid; perhaps you know such is a gateway to a fast-growing economy.
In 2015, Liberian authorities seized approximately 18.8 metric tons (MT) of marijuana, 1.87 kilograms (kg) of cocaine, and 6.2kg of heroin. In 2014, 2.5 kilograms of cocaine and 1.9 kilograms of heroin were seized. (government, 2009) . The audacity some of you opposition have to insinuate that this drug problem started with President Weah’s government, whereby it all started in 2009 during the regime of the Unity Party government where Hon. Joseph N. Boakia served for 12 whole years as vice president. However, we are thankful to the sitting government which is in collaboration with UNFPA in raising a 13.9 million dollar fund to help implement a drug plan that will help eliminate drug usage in Liberia (UNFPA, 2022). Perchance the President Weah’s government might include within their plans a few of the British government’s drug strategies: break drug supply chains (restricting upstream flow–preventing the drug from reaching the country; rolling up county lines- bringing perpetrators to justice, safeguarding and supporting victims; restricting the supply of drugs into prison, etc.); deliver a world-class treatment and recovery system, etc. (DrugWise, 2017)
President Weah is a man with definiteness of purpose and is definite with a purpose of making our motherland Liberia a better place, a place where greatness shall be visible. Therefore we are re-electing President Weah, and we do not need you to rescue us.
(DrugWise, 2017) (UNFPA, 2022) (government, 2009)
