MONROVIA – Police in Monrovia have arrested a 33-year-old woman on an allegation of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy in the Zuma Town, St. Paul Bridge Community, outside Monrovia.

The community is located in electoral District 16, Montserrado County.
Defendant Mayamu Kamara was arrested on Wednesday, September 27, following a complaint filed by a resident of the community Juteh Sudue after an alarm was raised by the victim and some community members.
She was arraigned before the Borough Magisterial Court and later sent to the Monrovia Central Prison awaiting trial.
According to the writ of arrest issued by the court, a copy which is in the possession of FrontPage Africa, defendant Mayamu who was stopping with the victim’s mother, an officer of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) identified as Rebecca, asked the victim to have sex with her or “suck” her private part.
“During the period of September 21, 2023, in the area of St. Paul Bridge, Bushrod Island, the named defendant being there and then without the fear of God sexually did abuse the twelve (12) years old minor of a lady by the name of Rebecca Sangar by taking off the said child clothes and forcing him to suck her private part contrary to the Rape Law of Liberia.”
Narrating his ordeal, the victim (name withheld) disclosed that the defendant, who he considered to be his aunty forcibly him to suck her private part.
“On Thursday my friends and I were playing football. When we finished playing, I decided to go and cook my rice to the house. I put my rice in the pot and left it boiling. I went inside and saw Aunty Mayamu standing behind the door. She had the wire and knife in her hands and she said when I talk she will kill me. She took off all her clothes and my clothes and said I should come, I said ‘I don’t want to do anything with you. She was still forcing me. She laid me on (top) her and I say I don’t want to do anything. She was choking me and she told me to suck her.”
Also speaking, the mother of the victim, Rebecca, pointed out that she was at work when the incident allegedly happened.
“My door is opened; it has small mark on it. But the people in this house told me that they saw her and my son naked. I came from work and Rebecca came to me and said my son told people that she raped him. By that time my son has not explained anything to me yet.”
Sangar noted that her son was taken from her house to the residence of a nearby neighbor, preventing her from hearing from him.
She pointed out that following reports from community dwellers, she again decided to engage her friend concerning the allegation, but Mayamu denied sexually assaulting the victim.
She disclosed that her friend (Mayamu) later escaped from her house, something which raises suspicion over her involvement into the commission of the alleged act.
“When she escaped from the house, I went to her boyfriend’s place and he said she didn’t go there. I went Kuwait and saw her. I told her Mayamu let’s go home and she said she can’t come home. I left her and came back home to bath and the whole group came and started calling me ‘rapist, rapist, rapist’. I told them that I am not a rapist, but the person who did the act is a rapist I came and the woman (who filed the complaint) said she was going to call the police. I said no problem if you do not call the police I will not move from here.”
The police later arrived on the scene and arrested LDEA officer Rebecca after her friend (defendant Mayamu) had escaped from her home.
Defendant Mayamu reportedly went back to the residence of Sangar in search of food. But her action prompted community dwellers to cajole her to reach at the police station where she was arrested and imprisoned.
“When Mayamu came, the community people never told her that I was in the cell (jail). She walked and went to my sister house and the community people asked her for them to walk to go to the depot. She came there and the police put her in the cell,” Sangar, mother of the victim added.
Following the arrest of defendant Mayamu, Rebecca was later released by the police.
“My son told me that Mayamu haul him in the room and said he should play with her and she said the boy should carry his mouth in her vagina. He said she pushed his mouth in her vagina and said when he talks; she will beat him with the wire. My son said he never had sex with her; he only folds his mouth to suck her. I am convinced that she did it because, she ran away from the house.”
She described her friend Mayamu as an alleged “drug addict.”
She claimed that though she is one of those combating against drug trafficking and illegal usage in Liberia, her efforts applied to discourage the defendant from allegedly taking in dangerous substances have not yielded any fruitful results.
Community dwellers have been questioning the relationship between LDEA officer Rebecca Sangar and defendant Mayamu Kamara. However, Sangar denies having extra affairs with the defendant, other than friendship.
The victim is in the custody of the police.
During police preliminary investigation, defendant Mayamu reportedly denied the commission of the crime of sexual assault against the minor.
