Ganta, Nimba County – Liberia’s neurosurgeon (brain surgeon), Alvin Nah-Doe, who is assigned at the Jackson F. Doe Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County, has called on government and NGOs to support his work by supporting the hospital. Nah-Doe is calling for more logistical and manpower support to the hospital.
He said most equipment at the hospital were provided by the Korlu-Bu Neuroscien Foundation, a Canadian base organization. But he emphasized the need for more logistical support. He said conducting brain surgery in Liberia is becoming more challenging; emphasizing that there’s urgency for government through the Ministry of Health to increase support for the hospital.
Meanwhile, several hospitals in Nimba County have confirmed the insurgence of diseases. The pronouncement was made during the Liberia Medical and Dental Association bi-monthly meeting that brought together doctors from across the country to discuss their welfare and challenges During a power point presentation, Doctor Albert Willicor of the Ganta United Methodist Hospital said Fungal Pneumonia is affecting several people.
Two cases have been reported at the Jackson F.Doe Hospital. The second bi-monthly meeting for LMDA also intended to unite medical doctors, promote and maintain high standards of professionalism, ethics, dignity and morals.
The meeting also promoted health care delivery and sort to improve the welfare of top medical professionals, solicit support, engage in charitable activities, and help to conduct independent research in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
